Twitter Blue relaunches, features different pricings for Android and iOS

At the end of last month, Twitter decided to hold off on the relaunch of Twitter Blue. Allegedly, this was because Elon Musk didn't want to pay the 30% cut that the Apple App Store collects from all apps with transactions. However, it looks like the company will relaunch it soon.

Yesterday, Twitter announced that it will relaunch Twitter Blue on Monday (12 December 2022). However, there's a clear caveat this time. While the subscription price remains at USD8/month (~RM35/month) for Android, Twitter is raising the price for iOS users to USD11/month (~RM48/month). Interestingly, the screenshot posted in the Tweet shows that the USD8/month pricing is a limited-time offer, so there's a chance that Android users could also see an eventual price hike.

As you can tell, the price hike is probably to ensure that the company can still earn the desired amount after the 30% cut. However, the features of Twitter Blue remain the same. Firstly, subscribers will get the blue verified checkmark. Secondly, their tweets will be bumped to the top in replies, mentions, and the platform's internal search engine. Besides that, they can also edit their Tweets, upload 1080p videos, and use the reader mode.

Since Twitter Blue is relaunching, we can assume that Twitter has found a solution to the problem of users impersonating well-known brands or people. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to have added other features to make the service more enticing. Would you consider subscribing to Twitter Blue?
