Today, Huawei has finally unveiled the latest Mate 20 series along with other two products including the Huawei Watch GT and Band 3 Pro the but we'll cover these separately. Powered by the Kirin 980 chipset, a new Nano Memory card and more, the series includes the Huawei Mate 20, starting from €799 (4GB + 128GB, ~RM3837) and €849 (6GB + 128GB, ~RM4078), €1049 (~RM5038) for the Mate 20 Pro, €899 (~RM4318) for the Mate 20X and the Porsche Design Mate 20 RS in two variants - €1659 (8GB + 256GB, ~RM8141) and €2095 (8GB + 512GB, ~RM10062). All the phones except the Mate 20X (26 October 2018) are now available worldwide but we don't have a clear date for Malaysia's release.
The Mate 20 series are going for a shiny curved back with no more camera band, the inspiration for the new rear camera design is apparently from the Porsche 911 Four point headlamps so that all of the Huawei Mate 20 series are essentially sporting Porsche Design elements. They will be coming in black, blue, green, silver and the two tone twilight with shiny diagonal Hyper Optical Patterns that shimmer under the light and are anti-fingerprint (there's a pink version too, but this one isn't expected to come to Malaysia).

The Graphene cooled Gaming Giant
So, as mentioned from our rumours roundup post, the three Mate 20 models really look similar from the back but the Mate 20X is the big one. Designed for gaming as teased from its Twitter account, it features a humongous 5000mAh battery and a 7.21-inch OLED display in a compact body very much smaller than most 7-inch tablets.
It also has an extra accessory, Huawei is dubbing this stylus as the Huawei M-Pen which is meant for scrubbing down quick notes, drawing and it can even take a screenshot from double-clicking it (sounds familiar?). To solve the heating problem from gaming, the company has also installed a Graphene Film and Vapor Chamber Cooling System which when combined with GPU Turbo 2.0 offer no lag gaming.

The M-Pen is quite huge, it should be a separated accessory

Here's how the new cooling system look like within
The main Mate 20s
The Mate 20 has the same design as the Mate 20X but is smaller due to the 6.5-inch display, but both have a Full HD+ pixel resolution. It also retains a 3.5mm headphone jack. You'll be surprised to know that the Mate 20 Pro has a slightly smaller 6.4-inch display but this is mainly because it has a sleeker dual curved edge screen. The Mate 20 Pro goes for the higher-end 2K+ or quad HD+ pixel resolution
The Mate 20 Pro features an in-display fingerprint sensor, a SuperCharge technology with 40watts which allows charging up to 70% in just 30 minutes, a 3D Depth Sensor for facial recognition and 3D Selfie, 15W wireless charging (and the ability to reverse charge Qi wireless chargable devices), wireless easy projection (thanks to a dongle), as well as a new AI Cinema Mode and more.

New focus on video recording with a new LEICA Triple Lens rear camera
The AI Cinema Mode is a new video recording feature for the videographers and offers some filters such as nostalgia, Hitchcock, portrait bokeh, and AI Portrait colour with AI Video Zoom technology for tracking the subject in real time. To explain it further, the AI Cinema mode records the subject in colour while the background and other objects are black and white in real-time, no post processing necessary, making it ideal for videographers on the go.
AI Predictive Focus is also there to follow the subject's movement better in video recording, allowing for smoother overall video and photos. The LEICA Triple rear camera has actually changed, with the monochrome sensor being replaced with a 20MP ultra wide 150 degrees lens (for the Mate 20 Pro). When this is combined with the 40MP camera and 8MP telephoto camera, you can now take detailed super wide angle shots or go as close as 2.5cm for really close-up macro shots without needing any extra macro or wide angle lens.
The AI Scene Recognition now recognizes 24 different scene categories for more than 500 different scenarios while the 5x hybrid zoom lets you zoom in without any loss of details. There is also an AI Assisted Composition feature which makes sure you don't accidentally chop off heads when you take pictures.
