After the WhatsApp team brought a new storage management tool to their messaging app a few days ago, they are not stopping to improve the app that has two billion users by again releasing a new feature today. From now on, users can now set their messages to disappear after a certain time.

The disappearing messages feature is now starting to roll out to Android and iOS users. For now, users of the app can only set seven days for the messages to disappear. A spokesperson stated that seven days "feels like a nice balance between the utility you need for global text-based conversations and the feeling of things not sticking around forever.” However, the team will keep an eye for feedbacks to decide whether to include more options in the future.

One of the purposes of making the messages disappear is to avoid some personal messages from staying for too long regarding privacy concerns. It can also make group chats more manageable by eliminating the messages that are sent ages ago. Lastly, it is worth mentioning that the messages will disappear no matter that the person has read it or not.
