If you are someone who values your privacy, this news might please you. In the latest update, WhatsApp did something that could change the communication technology as we know it. You can now hide your IP address on WhatsApp Calls.

Previously, we mentioned how WhatsApp could release the Email Address Verification feature soon. Now, you can hide your IP address during WhatsApp calls thanks to the additional layer of privacy. You might wonder, how does it work?

For your information, WhatsApp made this feature work by relaying all calls through the app’s servers. That means the party won’t be able to see your IP address during the call. Besides that, the Group Calls will also be relayed through WhatsApp servers.

In addition, you can expect all calls to be end-to-end encrypted. However, you might experience lower call quality due to relaying. To use this feature, simply go to “Settings”, then “Privacy”. Tap “Advanced” and turn “Protect IP address” in calls on or off.

We have yet to confirm other details on this matter. However, we could expect this feature to be a welcomed addition for Malaysians. With the rising number of scam cases and frauds, the timing couldn’t get any better.
