When it comes to data privacy, the wrong move can cause your users to leave. That seems to be WhatsApp's concern in regards to its updated privacy policy, which has been a cause of controversy. Fortunately, sources claim that the company won't be enforcing it.

According to Engadget, WhatsApp has backtracked on its decision on limited usage of the app for users who fail to comply with its new privacy policy. Allegedly, a spokesperson for the company stated that WhatsApp has no plans to limit the functionality of WhatsApp for those who don't accept the update. What hasn't changed is the fact that the company will keep sending you reminders about it. The company's support page has been updated to reflect this.

Originally, the company planned to gradually reduce the functions these users would be able to access. Messages and the chat list would be the first to go, followed by the loss of calls and notifications. After that, WhatsApp would deactivate inactive accounts after 120 days. This decision could threaten the mass migration of WhatsApp users, which is probably why the company decided to U-turn.

Of course, this doesn't mean WhatsApp will change its updated privacy policy. It's still going to share your info with other Facebook-related companies for ad targeting. If you don't want that, then you might have to switch to a different app. In that case, which app do you think is the best option here?
