The M4 Mac mini was revealed not too long ago and has yet to arrive in Malaysia. It is also much smaller than its predecessor. However, there is one tiny design caveat — the power button is located right below the back of the machine.

So why did Apple do it that way? Well, in a recent interview between Chinese tech personnel Bilibili and Apple executives, Greg Joswiak and John Ternus, the duo were actually surprised by the feedback and addressed the decision. The overall consensus was that the new Mac mini is a lot smaller so the power button was placed at that spot as the most optimal way.

Below is the conversation about why the power button is placed in a weird location:

So all in all, Apple executives said that the new Mac mini users won't need the power button as much as they think. This indicates the power efficiency and perhaps sleeping mode of the M4 Mac mini are good enough when not used. On the other hand, the Mac mouse's charging port is still in an awkward position and has not changed for many years.
