A feature that can be replicated by either web services or downloaded apps, Android notifications will soon able to be addressed by Windows users straight from their desktop. Just download the Cortana app, and your notifications will be popping up on your desktop in no time.

Tester version of Windows 10 can now sync notifications from an Android smartphone. At the moment, the feature has only rolled out to those who are a part of the Windows Insider program. Regular Windows 10 users will receive this functionality later this summer when Microsoft rolls out the Windows 10 Anniversary Update.

The notifications are handled and routed to the desktop from the Android smartphone via the Cortana App, which acts as an intermediary channel for communication. Once everything is set up, your Windows 10 PC will be able to display notifications such as missed calls, messages, and emails. Furthermore, users will also be able to reply to notifications straight from the paired Windows 10 computer.

This is great news for Windows users, as you don’t need to get any additional apps installed to have this feature. You need to introduce Cortana to your Android smartphone, and everything will be great.
