While the frontliners are continuing their battle against COVID-19, we are also battling against fake news that spreads faster than the virus itself through chain messages in WhatsApp by your naive friends and family. Today, we will put two rumours to an end once and for all, as reported by the World Health Organization (WHO) - hot weather will not prevent COVID-19 and being infected does not mean you're destined to die.

You probably have already heard about this one and it all started from WhatsApp. Here's a true story - my friend's father was putting the luggage out in the sun because he thinks the sunray will kill the virus. Well, WHO have already done their research and confirmed that no sunny or hot weather will be able to stop COVID-19, so if you're trying to expose yourself to the sunlight or temperatures higher than 25°C, just stop right now. If that really works, why would we be in quarantine right now? Please use some common sense, people.

FACT: Exposing yourself to the or to temperatures higher than 25C degrees DOES NOT prevent COVID-19.

FACT: You can recover from COVID-19. Catching the new coronavirus DOES NOT mean you will have it for life.

Next, while the COVID-19 virus is indeed deadly. Being infected by it does not guarantee that you will have 0% to live. As shown by statistics, there are patients who have recovered from it and proves that it's possible to recover. WHO recommends that if you started coughing, having a fever, and some difficulty breathing, you should seek medical attention immediately. However, do note that even if you do not have these symptoms, it does not mean you're not infected.

So that's all, folks. As always, do wash your hands regularly, do not touch your face if possible, stay at home, play your games, watch movies, and spend time with your family. By the way, you can get official news and information through Facebook's COVID-19 Information Centre where you can get weekly updates from WHO, UNICEF, and Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia.
