Initially announced in February, the Xiaomi Mi 5 will soon be available in Malaysia for RM1549 starting from 18 June 2016 (via distributor Thorus Technology). Featuring tech specs that include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, 3GB RAM, front fingerprint sensor, 16MP 4-axis OIS rear canera and a metal unibody frame with 3D glass back, the Mi 5 is still very relevant, especially for below RM1550. Check out the full tech specs below:
- 1.8GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor
- 3GB RAM
- 32 GB storage
- 5.15-inch Full HD with 1080 x 1920 resolution
- 144.5 x 69.2 x 7.25mm | 129g
- 16MP rear camera (4-axis OIS or optical image stabilization, 4K video recording, IMX 280 sensor) + 4MP front camera (2.0-micron)
- MIUI 7
- 3000 mAh battery
Other notable tech specs include a 4MP 2.0 micron front camera for an ultra-pixel like effect and while 32GB of storage is good, it appears to be the standard version and not the 4GB RAM / 128GB storage Pro version with ceramic exclusive back. Looking at the above tech specs and pricing we have to admit that the official Mi 5 pricing does sound tempting but with the [IMPORT] model coming in at RM1389, price might not be an issue.
Even third-party sellers like DirectD are offering the 64GB storage version at RM1699 but for latest prices do check out our Mi 5 tech specs link. The official version will no doubt offer better localization and warranty support but for some this may not be a plus point.
