Last week, Xiaomi announced that it was launching two models from the Redmi Note 9 series in Malaysia. The company had previously launched the Redmi Note 9S back in March 2020 and has officially unveiled the Redmi Note 9 and Redmi Note 9 Pro today. It will be available via pre-order from 11 to 17 May 2020, with prices starting from RM649.
If you've read our coverage on the global launch of the Redmi Note 9 series, you'll find that it's basically the same here. First, there's the Redmi Note 9 smartphone, which comes with a Helio G85 chipset that will be decent for mobile gaming. Additionally, it has up to 4GB of RAM, up to 128GB, a 5020mAh battery, and 6.53-inch display. Besides that, it has a quad-camera setup of the back consisting of a 48MP main camera, 8MP ultrawide camera, 2MP macro camera, and 2MP depth sensor. It also has a 13MP front selfie camera.
As for the Redmi Note 9 Pro, it comes with a more powerful Snapdragon 720G chipset and more RAM at up to 6GB. The maximum storage (up to 128GB) and battery (5020mAh) remain the same, but it does have a slightly larger 6.67-inch display as well. In terms of cameras, the rear quad-camera has a beefier 64MP main camera, paired with the 8MP ultrawide lens, 5MP macro lens, and 2MP depth sensor. The front camera also has a higher resolution at 16MP.
For those who are interested in getting the Redmi Note 9, you can get the 3GB variant for RM649 and the 4GB variant for RM749. As for the Note 9 Pro, it's available at a retail price of RM1099.
