Regarding the news of Xiaomi planning to release a new unknown high-priced smartphone this year, Xiaomi Senior Vice President and co-founder, Liwan Jiang has once again stated Xiaomi is indeed moving forward with that plan. Although it will be their most expensive phone, it will also be cost effective according to him.
This was reaffirmed during an interview with Liwan Jiang just recently, no release date was given but the target period would be the second half of the year (which doesn't say much). He also wants to reassure the fans that they won't be rip off by the high price tag of the device, as Xiaomi will continue their tradition of cost-effective products, what's more, he hinted a new special brand name could be made for the device.
In addition to that, rumours have it that a Xiaomi news conference is to be held in August so there's a chance that the high-end device or the mysterious Mi Note 2 could be unveiled. Stay tuned for more news at Technave.com.
