Some of you may have heard about the 108MP ISOCELL Bright HMX sensor by now. It first surfaced in early August 2019 by Xiaomi, which was manufactured by Samsung and while the company is keeping a tight lip on what phone will be integrating this, XDA Developers has some ideas.

According to XDA Developers, Xiaomi is planning to launch four different smartphones with the 108MP camera sensor. Through the Xiaomi MIUI's Mi Gallery app, they found four codes which are called 'tucana', 'draco', 'umi' and 'cmi'. While these codenames don't seem to mean anything for casual users, XDA Developers further found out that the app has been 'upgraded' to support 108MP images which means that the devices are indeed capable of taking 108MP images.

Is it just mere speculation? Perhaps, but keep in mind that the guys over there also found out that the two Xiaomi phones - the Mi 9T and Mi 9T Pro would have pop-up front cameras from the same source, so it seems legit. But then again, it's still best to take this with a pinch of salt. It's also noted that the Mi Mix 4 won't have the 108MP camera.

To recap, the 108MP ISOCELL Bright HMX uses a quad Bayer filter which is meant to shoot with a 27MP camera with pixel binning in the size of 1.6μm. You can read more about it right here.
