We have shared an early look of Xiaomi’s affordable action camera, the Yi Action Camera 2, and now the company has officially unveiled the action camera – unfortunately only for limited markets at this point of time.

The latest generation Xiaomi Yi 4K Action Camera is equipped with a 12-megapixel Sony IMX377 sensor and an Ambarella A9SE95 chipset, a 2.19-inch touchscreen covered in Corning Gorilla Glass that has a pixel density of 330 pixels/inch, both 4K and Full HD recording capabilities (30fps for the former and up to 120fps for 1080p), a large 1400mAh battery, WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity and a 155 degree wide-angle lens with a F/2.8 aperture.

The battery that is built-into the camera can last up to 8 hours on standby mode, or almost 2 hours of continuous recording. It also supports time lapse video with time intervals of 0.5 / 1 / 2 / 5 / 10 / 30 / 60 seconds between each shot.

If you know anyone in China, you can get one for yourself for USD 200 (~RM800), which is higher than the original Yi Action Camera. You are however getting a full package deal with each set, which includes a waterproof case, filters, UV lenses, and a Bluetooth remote camera shutter controller in it. You even get a floating bar in the set – great for underwater shoots.

Malaysia is not in the countries where the camera is available yet, but suffice to say we should see sellers here with the camera on sale pretty soon.
