Throughout this month, Xiaomi has dropped several hints that it will be launching an 8K TV soon. Well, the company officially announced two new 82-inch Mi TV Lux models yesterday. One is the 8K model that has we've previously talked about, while the other is a 4K TV.
According to FoneArena (via Weibo), the more premium Mi TV Lux Ultra will support 8K resolution at 60Hz. It will be power by a Novatek 72685 chipset that comes with a quad-core CPU and Mali G51 GPU. Additionally, it has enough RAM at 4GB and a decent amount of storage space at 256GB. In terms of features, it will support 5G (via SIM card), NFC remote control, MEMC motion compensation, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, and more.

Then there's the 82-inch Mi TV Lux, the 4K variant that has more modest specs but is more affordable. It has a MediaTek MT9650 chipset, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of internal storage. Compared to the 8K model, the colour coverage is smaller (98% vs 93% DCI-P3) and the max brightness isn't as impressive (2000 vs 1000 nits). But on the flip side, it can output video at 4K resolution on 120Hz.
Xiaomi will retail the 4K model for 9999 yuan (~RM6106) and the 8K model for 49999 yuan (~RM30530). Honestly, the 4K model is probably the better option but what do you think? Let us know on our Facebook page and stay tuned to TechNave.com for more news like this.
