We have been reading about some news of under-screen camera technology for quite some time now, but here's a new one from Xiaomi. Shared by @UniverseIce on his Twitter account, it seems that Xiaomi has been secretly working on that technology and there's a Mi 10 Ultra special edition with it.

In that short video teaser, we can see that Xiaomi was showcasing two Mi 10 Ultra devices side by side on the display performance. By having an under-screen camera, the display performance on the special edition is a lot more smooth than the standard Ultra variant. Xiaomi also highlighted that this is the 3rd-generation under-screen camera technology "which has reached a usable level" and will be mass-produced in the first quarter of 2021.

From unlocking the phone to opening an app, the special Mi 10 Ultra performed better and it would benefit higher refresh rate options. It's also worth noticing that the colour contrast appears to be slightly darker and of course, this also allows taking a selfie.

On 1 September 2020, ZTE Axon 20 5G will be the first smartphone to showcase such feature and TCL just recently summited a patent with that. Just a wild prediction - 2021 could be the year of phones with under-screen camera technology, but what do you think?
