As mentioned in our earlier post, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun won't be making any new Mi Max and Mi Note series this year. However, he also talked about having a new lineup series called CC that's targeted towards the youth. Let's see what is it all about.
According to Lei Jun, the new CC series is “designed to be a flagship for photography and selfies with both front and back cameras”. So in other words, it will be heavily focused on the camera which is supervised by a newfound partnership between Xiaomi and Meitu. Together, they are collaborating in taking selfies to the next level. The CC is also a short form for Chic & Cool, Camera & Clicks, and Colour & Captivating.
Although no CC smartphones have been officially named, we have leaks and tech specs of the two CC devices from TENAA from China. The first one is the CC9e, a mid-range tier phone featuring a Snapdragon 710 chipset, up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB storage (eMMC 5.1), a 5.97-inch AMOLED display and housing a pretty big 32MP selfie snapper. The back is where the triple rear 48MP + 8MP + 5MP camera, as well as supporting an in-display fingerprint sensor, Hi-Res audio and USB Type-C for the 3500mAh battery (w/ 18W fast charging).

On the other hand, the CC9 is not that different from its younger brother. It packs a Snapdragon 730 chipset, same RAM memory but the storage goes up to 256GB (UFS 2.1), a bigger AMOLED display that also has the same front camera, while the back has a 48MP + 16MP + 12MP camera configuration. The battery is bigger as well with 4000mAh with 27W charging. Other features mentioned in the CC9e is the same.
It's not known if Xiaomi plans to export this new CC series globally, we will have to wait for its China release to see how well the reception is then they can consider it. Stay tuned for more Xiaomi news at TechNave.com.
