Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun has recently announced during the World Internet Conference, stating that they will be releasing up to ten or more 5G-capable smartphones by the year 2020. As of now, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer has already unveiled several 5G smartphones such as the Mi 9 Pro 5G, Mi MIX 5G as well as the Mi Mix Alpha which has almost an all-screen body display.
With that said, it is not certain whether the majority of the 5G-capable Xiaomi smartphones will be available in Malaysia until the second half of 2020. This is due to the fact that the 5G infrastructure in Malaysia is not as developed compared to countries like the US, UK, and South Korea. However, MCMC has recently stated that they are investing up to RM116 million to have 5G tested in 6 Malaysian states.
