Yoodo has become the latest local telco company to offer Voice Over WiFi (VoWiFi) service in Malaysia. Allowing for better calls over any WiFi network, regardless of mobile coverage, VoWiFi allows users to make calls indoors through WiFi connection, hence the quality would be much better, especially if your mobile coverage indoors is not up to par.

According to Yoodo’s official website, the service is available for devices that have VoWiFi or WiFi calling supported by the network. For now, only a handful of devices support Yoodo’s VoWiFi service, all of them being Android smartphones, with iOS devices yet to be supported by the network.

Among the smartphones supported include those from Xiaomi, vivo, Samsung, Nokia, HUAWEI and HONOR. You can check out the full list of supported devices here.

If your Android device is supported, all you have to do to activate the service is to follow these steps:

  1. Go to Settings and select Mobile Network
  2. Select Mobile Data
  3. Select WiFi Calling and ensure that VoLTE is enabled
  4. Enable WiFi Calling

Yoodo’s introduction of VoWiFi makes it the fourth telco company in Malaysia to implement the service. Previously, Digi, Maxis and Celcom have already enabled the service for their users.

In fact, Yoodo’s introduction of VoWiFi should come as no surprise given its relationship with Celcom, which recently introduced the service back in June. In case you didn’t know, Yoodo is a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) that runs on the Celcom network, hence they both share almost the same features.
