Back in October 2021, YouTube Premium prices went up for a few countries but Malaysia wasn't one of them until this week. From now onwards, the YouTube Premium for Family is now RM33.90 per month.
To refresh your memory, the original YouTube Premium Family plan was RM26.90 per month. That's a staggering RM7 rise in cost and for unknown reasons, the individual plan remains the same as RM17.90 per month, as well as the Student package for RM10.90 per month. YouTube did not release any official statement regarding this matter for the Malaysian market.
Although the Family plan is more expensive now, it's still the cheapest way to avoid protruding ads while watching videos, downloading videos offline and listening to YouTube Music. The primary account holder can add up to five family members and each will have to fork out RM6.78 per month. Previously, it was RM5.70 per month for each member.
YouTube is still offering to non-Premium members a 1-month free trial and they can cancel it anytime. It's quite a pinch to our wallets but this is the reality of inflation now that's affecting everything. Stay safe and stay tuned for more trending tech news.
