If you're a content creator, you may have heard of YouTube Shorts, a new short-form video feature. Well, YouTube wants to convince content creators to get on the beta and use the feature. So it has come up with a simple motivator - money.

YouTube has created a YouTube Shorts Fund to reward content creators. It's quite a big fund too, with a total of USD 100 million (~RM412 million) to be distributed over the course of this year and 2022. Specifically, creators who upload Shorts with the most engagement and views every month will be rewarded.

Currently, YouTube Shorts beta is only available in the US and India. But we can expect a global rollout eventually. Also, this Fund is not limited to content creators who are in the YouTube Partner Program, but to all YouTube content creators in general. Speaking of monetisation, the company will also be testing ads for YouTube Shorts.

Mind you, we have no idea when YouTube Shorts will be available in Malaysia. It could be months before you can earn anything from this. But with that said, does the monetisation make you more motivated to use YouTube Shorts? Share your comments on YouTube's new format, and stay tuned to TechNave for more news like this.
