YouTube is currently testing a new higher-quality 1080p option that is currently available for a small group of YouTube Premium subscribers. The new video quality option is called ‘1080p premium’ which has an enhanced bitrate which provides more information per pixel.

As reported by The Verge, the video streaming platform assured that it is not changing the existing quality offerings for 1080p (HD). Instead, the higher bitrate option would provide a better viewing experience and potentially be another new feature to separate Premium subscribers from regular users.

It is unknown how long YouTube would be testing this feature or whether it would be available to the masses in the future. Well, at least the platform is testing a new video quality feature and not adding more ads as it did before!
