Right after iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro became available, many media nerds and geeks have been testing out the battery performance on the new iPhones. Previously, we reported that turning on 5G would drain the battery capacity a lot but turns out that they aren't so great in mobile gaming as well.

The battery tests were done by PhoneArena.com, besides from mobile gaming, they also include web browsing and YouTube video playback. Pitted against its own predecessor - the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro, the Galaxy S20 (SD edition) and S20 FEGoogle Pixel 5 and the iPhone SE joined in the test too. In terms of web browsing, the iPhone 12 and 12 Pro are among the longest with Pixel 5 being first at 12 hours and 33 minutes above.

However, when it came to YouTube video playback, the iPhone 12 and 12 Pro were almost the same as their predecessors which you can see in the charts. The Galaxy S20 and S20 FE did a lot better in that aspect, the same goes for the Pixel 5. Finally in the mobile gaming battery test, they played Call of Duty Mobile and Minecraft and shockingly, the new iPhones performed worst than expected. Even losing out to the iPhone 11 which has the same result as the Galaxy S20.

There are some theories about why the iPhone 12 and 12 Pro only lasted that long. We already know that the battery capacity is lesser than the iPhone 11 series, but the fact that they performed well in web browsing is just odd. Perhaps it is because the new mobile games aren't optimized with the A14 Bionic chipset yet so maybe an update patch is needed?

The iPhone series has not always been known for mobile gaming, but they do give the best performance most of the time. Perhaps it's best to use back the iPhone 11 series for now, or just wait for the iPhone 12 Pro Max. Stay tuned for more trending tech news at TechNave.com.
