We have talked about the iPhone 11 as the most shipped smartphone of Q1 2020 before, but what about Q2 2020? Now that we are in the middle of July, we just got our first sales report from Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP) and turned out that the iPhone SE 2020 is doing super well. We will come to that Android switch part later, but first, the sales report.
Just for your information, this is taking account from the US market but it's still an impressive feat nonetheless as the device just made its debut not too long ago. In fact, the iPhone SE 2020 represents 19% of all the iPhone sales during the second quarter, whereas the iPhone 11 series is accounted for 65% of the sales. However, that's not the only interesting thing that we read, but CIRP also reported that there is a number of new buyers who were from Android.
According to the CIRP's database, 16% were Android users who switched to the iOS ecosystem but the majority of new iPhone SE users are still those who used the first-gen iPhone SE before. That said, it's also interesting to note that 73% of iPhone users actually waited for a worthy iPhone device before switching as the table stated those who had an old phone over 3 years old, including the 32% former Android users.
Again, this database report is based on the US market. As mentioned by CIRP, the results are based on a survey they have done during April-June 2020 on 500 US Apple customers who had purchased an iPhone, iPad, Mac, or an Apple Watch. But what do you think folks think? Do you think the Malaysia market would have similar results? Let us know in the comments below and stay tuned for more trending tech news at TechNave.com.
