There are plenty of people that don't like Apple's lightning connector. Enough for engineering student Ken Pillonel to spend months proving that you can mod a USB-C connector into an iPhone. Now, he's decided to cash in on that endeavour.

As spotted by Pillonel, the world's first iPhone X modded with a USB Type-C connector has been auctioned on eBay. At the time of writing, the bid stands at a whopping USD 100100 (~RM416416). And that amount is sure to continue going up, as the option is still accepting bids till 12 October 2021.

So, how did the man achieve his engineering feat? There's a new video on how he swapped out the lightning port for a USB-C port. It's a very detailed video that describes the thought process and steps he made for the project. Check out the video if you find things like these fascinating.

If it's successfully auctioned, Pillonel stands to make some good cash from his project. But is a USB-C port better than a lightning connector? Share your thoughts in the comments, and stay tuned to TechNave for more news like this.
