Remember the new realme X50 Youth Edition that we mentioned a while back? Yeah, scratch that name off. It seems that the device is actually going to be called the realme X50m, with 'm' apparently referring to 'Magic Dream' (don't ask). The device is going on sale in China next week on 29 April 2020, with prices starting from 1999 yuan (~RM1230).

realme announced this on its Weibo account, which also revealed some of the realme X50m's specifications. Judging by what's listed, it can be considered as the 'lite' variant for the realme X50. It's confirmed to have the same Snapdragon 765 5G chipset as the standard variant. Also, we expect it to have 8GB of RAM, 128GB of internal storage, a 4200mAh battery, and a 6.57-inch display with 120Hz refresh rate.

The camera department is where you'll see a difference. With the standard realme X50, you get a 64MP main shooter, 12MP telephoto lens, 8MP ultrawide lens, and a 2MP macro camera. As for the realme X50m, it's sporting a 48MP main camera, 8MP ultrawide lens, 2MP macro camera, and 2MP portrait lens. Front cameras are different too, with it sporting a 16MP+2MP dual-camera setup instead of the 16MP+8MP in the standard variant.

What's great about this variant is that the changes aren't too drastic, but you get to save a little extra money if you've been eyeing the realme X50 series. Having said that, we're not sure when this device will launch in Malaysia yet. Will you buy it when it comes to our shores?
