While vivo Malaysia continues to sell the V9 smartphone, they have just posted a new teaser with the caption "The X series is coming". What is the X series? Well, we think there are two possibilities - either the Xplay 7 or the X20 that they could be importing into our local shore.
So first up, the Xplay 7 is not out yet as according to the Internet, only the rendered images are floating around with a few tech-specs speculations. One of it is the ultrasonic fingerprint scanner which vivo has been boasting about it for a few months already ever since last year, not to forget the technology is currently in mass production as we speak so the Xplay 7 could be the first device to feature this new biometric system.
Another reason that vivo Malaysia might bring the Xplay 7 (if it happens) is that so far, they have only been selling mid-range units in Malaysia, so it's only a matter of time for them to introduce a flagship device. According to sources, the Xplay 7 uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset, 8GB + 256GB memory capacity and a dual rear camera setup with a new Sony image sensor (4x optical zoom).
On the other hand, most of you should also know by now that vivo is the official sponsor of the FIFA World Cup 2018. That being said, there's also an X20 FIFA special edition smartphone and who knows, vivo Malaysia might make way for this device into Malaysia as a limited edition for the football fans.
Not much is known about the specs, but what we know is that the device features 4GB of RAM, 64GB internal storage with expandable memory up to 256GB, a 6.01-inch Super AMOLED display, a 12MP + 5MP dual rear camera and a 3250mAh battery.
Or what if you combine those two and you get the X21 series? There are two models which are the X21 and X21 UD and as the name suggests, the UD is the under-display (ultrasonic) fingerprint sensor that we just mentioned earlier. Both models are quite similar, as they feature a Snapdragon 660 processor, a 6.28-inch FHD+ display (19:9 aspect ratio), 6GB of RAM, up to 128GB internal storage, a 12MP front camera, while the back uses a 12MP + 5MP setup. The battery is quite decent at 3200mAh and runs on Android 8.1 Oreo. We did a news post about it before so check it out here if you want to know more.
So what do you think? Just so you know, the X series has not been coming to Malaysia for three years already. Let us know in the comments below and stay tuned for more vivo news at TechNave.com.
