While the Sony Smartband, Xperia Z1 Compact and Xperia T2 Ultra have all been officially confirmed it wasn't confirmed that Malaysia would be getting these devices at the time. However, some Pre-registration forms have opened up for the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact and the Sony Xperia T2 Ultra. Pre-registering for either of the devices will let you get a notification from Sony Malaysia regarding when these devices would be available in Malaysia confirming we'll eventually see them here. Incidentally, the product page for the Sony Smartband is also available at the Sony Malaysia site which means we could soon see the Sony Smartband here in Malaysia as well, but there isn't any pre-registration for the Smartband yet. Also, no news yet on pricing or Malaysia release dates but with the pre-registration already up, we're expecting these devices to arrive in Malaysia soon.

LG seems to be booming with new phones these days as rumours indicate that we may soon see the LG G3 and the LG Optimus G Pro 2. While the LG G2 was unveiled late last year in Q3, rumours indicate that the LG G3 may get it's official launching on 17 May 2014. Supposedly this is to counter the Samsung Galaxy S5 which is also expected to launch in March 2014. The LG Optimus G Pro 2 on the other hand is expected to be revealed at the upcoming MWC Expo in February 2014. So far, tech specs for the LG G3 could include a 2K resolution 5.5-inch display. The LG Optimus G Pro 2 on the other hand is expected to come with a 5.9-inch 2K display as well. Other tech specs or features are still unknown but many are hoping that we could see Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 805 and above in either of the smartphones along with an OIS camera. No news yet on Malaysia release dates or pricing though but stay tuned and we'll keep you updated.

The age of the powerful mini cameraphones is upon us as rumours of another mini smartphone with powerful tech specs has surfaced. This time it comes from China and the mini cameraphone in question could be based on the Nokia Lumia 1520. These tech specs and features include a 4.3-inch screeen with 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution, 2GB of RAM, 32GB storage, a 3000 mAh battery and a 14MP PureView rear camera. Remember the multiple screen concept Nokia smartwatch prototype called Facet? Well, while it was certainly interesting, it definitely didn't look very cool (or comfortable) but this could change as Nokia will retain the wearables part of the business when it finally merges up with Microsoft. In line with this, Nokia is rumoured to be coming out with a better smartwatch by Q3 of 2014 that could use Morph technology. However, this seems highly unlikely since we've not seen anything capable of doing that just yet. For now, a more realistic concept render of a Nokia smartwatch has just come out from Phone Designer. The concept doesn't go into tech specs or features that much but it does reveal an interesting lock screen interface which could save on battery life and reduce the size of the smartwatch. Check it out below:

While the Google Glass smart glasses started the whole trend, it seems that Google is again thinking ahead of the rest. A Google blog revealed details about smart contacts which will track the glucose levels inside your tears. LED lights embedded into the contacts will activate when the glucose reaches a certain level. According to Google they've already made prototypes that take readings every second and have gone through some clinical trials. Google intends to go even further than just tracking glucose levels which you can see in the video below. No news yet on when exactly we might see a pair of smart contacts but with working prototypes already in the works it should be soon.

While Samsung have come out with Windows Phone 8 devices before, they haven't really embraced it fully. With Microsoft's Windows Phone platform rapidly growing, Samsung could be looking to picking up the pace a little with a new Windows Phone 8 Samsung device called the SM-W750V which is expected soon. The device has already been confirmed via Bluetooth SIG registration with tech specs for the device including a 5-inch screen. Rumours indicate that the device could have a screen resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and offer 4G LTE connectivity as well. No news on Malaysia release dates or pricing but we expect the SM-W750V to appear during the Mobile World Congress in February 2014.

We already reported that HP wanted to get back into the smartphone industry, and as expected they've recently announced their first offerings. These include the HP Slate6 VoiceTab and HP Slate7 VoiceTab phablets. Tech specs and features include a 6-inch 720p IPS screen for the HP Slate6 VoiceTab and a 7-inch 720p IPS screen for the HP Slate7 VoiceTab. Technical details are rather lacking for now, but the phablets will offer stereo speakers, 3G and dual-SIM support, use quad-core processors, have 16GB worth of storage and HD front and rear cameras. The two phablets will run Android 4.2 from the get go and will initially be available in India. No specific Malaysia release dates but we expect an Asia Pacific roll-out soon. Again, no definite details on pricing but rumours indicate that the HP Slate6 VoiceTab could go for $200 (RM658) while the HP Slate7 VoiceTab could be priced at $250 (RM823). The phablets could have Beats Audio considering that HP still uses it in their other hardware but stay tuned and we'll keep you updated.

While smart glasses already exist, most don't really look that good. Vuzix are working on that though as they have just made a deal with a major electronics company which could result in smart glasses that have that "designer sunglasses" look. These sunglasses would utilize waveguide optics, allowing the display to be a bit more subtle than the standard crystal display overlaying the glasses lens. Unfortunately, Vuzix says that such good-looking smart glasses will only start prototyping by the end of 2014. This could mean some nice looking smart glasses in mid 2015 but if you can't wait (and don't mind the look) do check out the Vuzix site for a pair of less good-looking smart glasses. We want one that is affordable or at least on par with smartphone prices, which is what smartglasses actually are, but this is likely just wishful thinking on our part.

Anodized (champagne) gold colour smartphones are not new, especially as there are versions for the Apple iPhone 5S and HTC One, but it appears that LG are also looking to do something similar as well. This time around a gold coloured version of the LG G2 will soon be available in Taiwan. Thankfully, the prices are still the same at 14900TWD (RM1628) for the standard 16GB version. Tech specs and features for the gold version remain the same though. No Malaysia release dates on when we'd get a gold LG G2 here in Malaysia but stay tuned and we'll keep you updated. In all likelihood, we'll probably see it with local sellers first before it comes officially from LG.

Most of us are thinking that we could see the next Samsung Galaxy S5 in February 2014 when the Mobile World Congress or MWC is expected to happen. However, news reports from an official insider in Samsung has said that the Samsung Galaxy S5 would be unveiled at New York in March. The report seems even more credible as the Samsung Galaxy S4 was also introduced last March in New York as well, but do take this rumour with a pinch of salt. No Malaysia release dates or pricing just yet but we wouldn't be surprised if HTC is planning to camp outside with the HTC One+ like they did with the HTC One.
