Today, Ericsson was announced as one of the 13 winners of a United Nations climate change award for a ground-breaking technology project in Malaysia that uses sensors to provide near real-time information to restore dwindling mangrove plantations. Known as the Connected Mangroves project, it is the first of its kind in the world that combines cloud, machine-to-machine and mobile broadband to help the local community in Selangor, Malaysia, to better manage the growth of new mangrove saplings.

Today, Celcom Axiata Berhad (Celcom) has announced their collaboration with Ericsson Malaysia Sdn Bhd and Huawei Technologies (M) Sdn Bhd as the company's main network infrastructure partners to integrate, deploy and manage its 4G LTE network developments. From now onwards, both Ericsson and Huawei will be responsible for the Full Turnkey supply and delivery of product, equipment, system, works and services for Celcom Radio Access Network (RAN), leading to further enhance customer experience.

Ericsson recently celebrated their 50th Year Anniversary in Malaysia by launching a new office location at The Pinnacle, Sunway. The event was officiated by Yang Berhormat Dato’ Sri Ahmad Shabery Cheek, Minister of Communication and Multimedia. Ericsson was the first to deploy an analogue mobile system network in 1984 here in Malaysia and was also crucial in bringing many other firsts to Malaysia's growing telecommunications industry. Here's what they had to say about it all:
