Today, we just learn from a Mandarin newspaper, Oriented Daily is reporting that Malaysian WeChat users will be able to use the app as an e-wallet in Malaysia Ringgit with local banks. Said to start in June 2018, WeChat has been in cooperating with several partner companies to allow Malaysians to shop through WeChat just before the Hari Raya festive season officially kicks off.

Today, U Mobile has announced a new partnership with WeChat and launched a new U Mobile WeChat Go SIM together. This new Go SIM is a new prepaid SIM that will offer Chinese tourists unlimited data on WeChat, as well as having free access to HD movies, documentaries and educational content out of China via Lingcod TV subscription.

Tencent recently launched their Tencent QQ Watch for Malaysian kids (and worried parents) for RM499 (for a 1 month promotional price, after which it will be RM569) . The smartwatch is a standalone device in that it can make calls, chat, take pictures and track the GPS location without needing a connected smartphone. Made using colourful anti-static food grade silica gel, the QQ watch is IP65 dust and water resistant so it can take sweat, rain or spills with ease. It is currently being distributed by Sibyl World and Ideal Vision Distribution and will soon appear at Popular book stores and Watsons stores.
