Today, U Mobile has announced a new strategic partnership with VIBE Mobile, further expanding its growing Mobile Virtual Network Operator ecosystem in Malaysia. Through the collaboration, U Mobile will provide VIBE Mobile with access to its next-generation 4G and 5G network infrastructure, including domestic connectivity, international services, and roaming capabilities.

As the year-end travel season approaches, Maxis is enhancing its roaming offerings by bundling Maxis Travel Care. It is a complimentary travel insurance plan, with selected Maxis Roaming Passes and added protection complementing Maxis’s unlimited 5G and 4G roaming data.

It has been a while since we got a report from Opensignal about Malaysia's Mobile Network Experience performance. According to the latest Opensignal Global Network Excellence Index, Malaysia’s mobile network experience slipped two spots, from 36th to 38th globally. Despite the drop, Malaysia still ranks in the top 10 across the Asia?Pacific region.

U Mobile, Malaysia’s newest 5G network provider, has inked a five-year wholesale access agreement with Eastel, a new Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) under Anchor Communications, set to debut in Q1 2026. This landmark partnership marks U Mobile’s first-ever 5G and 4G wholesale deal, paving the way for more collaborative opportunities in Malaysia’s fast-evolving telecommunications sector.

Today, Maxis announced new data pool upgrades for its Maxis Postpaid and Hotlink Postpaid plans. The Hotlink Postpaid 45, 60, and 70 plans, as well as the Maxis Postpaid 79 plan, now come with increased data quotas. Meanwhile, the Maxis Postpaid 109, 139, 169, and 199 plans now feature unlimited data.  

To enhance mobile connectivity further in Malaysia, CelcomDigi Berhad and U Mobile Sdn Bhd have announced a partnership agreement. With this initiative, both telcos will be sharing a total of 100 Multi-Operator Core Network (MOCN) sites across Malaysia, with each party committing to 50 sites each.

In 2022, Celcom and Digi began talks to merge the two companies, that would eventually become CelcomDigi. Hoping to utilize the best of both telcos, initial signs indicated that there was some improvement but lately, quite a few CelcomDigi users from our Facebook page have said that it has become worse since their merger. On paper, pulling all the resources from both sides should make the mobile internet experience better but it became the opposite instead. 

The Communications and Digital Ministry (KKD) has revealed that Sarawak received the highest allocation of RM4.46 billion under the National Digital Network (JENDELA) project. The allocation is meant to boost the territory’s connectivity and internet services.

What can we do NOW with 5G? This is a question that many have been asking, especially when deciding to make the move to 5G or to stay with 4G. Well, the biggest advantage of mobile 5G networks is the incredibly fast Internet speed. Unfortunately, most people believe that there isn't enough content or services that actually need those 5G speeds.

But is that really true? A quick search online indicates the opposite as there are actually quite a few things that take advantage of those 5G speeds. In addition, it is also making it possible for us to do things that used to require powerful mobile devices or computers. Today, let's take a look at 3 things that we can do NOW with 5G.

We'll all have to switch to 5G someday. Just like how 3G was phased out, 4G would eventually be phased out too. And of course, there are good reasons why you might want to upgrade. But that's not the case for all of us. Today, let's talk about 3 reasons why I have not switched to 5G yet and a few reasons why you might want to do so anyway.
