After multiple telcos have announced their plans for the 5G rollout in the country, Maxis has also come forward to promise that it's bringing the latest generation mobile network to its users. The company has issued a public release about utilising Digital Nasional Berhad's (DNB) network for its 5G services.

It seems that U Mobile has cleared the air and announced that the company has signed the 5G Access Agreement (AA) with Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB) on 30 October 2022. Before this, it was rumoured the orange telco jumped ship but that's not the case anymore.

The news about Maxis and U Mobile backing out of taking up stakes in Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB) for the 5G deal came out last night. Fast enough, U Mobile has made a statement today to clarify the situation and ensure its customers that 5G services will still get provided through the telco company. 

Today is the deadline day for the 5G service agreement in Malaysia and it seems that the 5G single-wholesale network under Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB) may exclude Maxis and U Mobile. This is after both telco companies reportedly say no to taking up stakes in DNB, despite agreeing to the matter back in June 2022.

All telco companies that will be providing 5G services in Malaysia have started technical tests regarding their implementation. This is according to the Chief Operating Officer (CEO) of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), Datuk Mohd Ali Hanafiah Mohd Yunus.

Just over the weekend, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa made an announcement regarding the 5G state in Malaysia. He said that 1000 selected schools across the nation, including rural areas, are expected to be provided with a 5G network by the end of 2022.
