While it was announced last year in 2015, it looks like ASUS are confirming that a number of devices will be getting the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update by Q2 of 2016. New additions since previously include the ZenFone Zoom and Max but it also appears that certain ASUS ZenUI apps like ASUS Messenger, ASUS Mail and ASUS Calender will be replaced by their Google apps as the default apps. You can redownload these apps and install them with a factory reset after the update though.

Coming courtesy of suppliers, this rumour indicates that the upcoming ASUS ZenFone 3smartphones will also come with a fingerprint sensor developed by Elan Microelectronics and Goodix. While no specific Malaysia release dates were mentioned, it will probably be announced sometime in January or February 2015 (probably during one of the earlier expos) with a regional launch in April or May 2016 (like last year for the ZenFone 2). We expect this fingerprint sensor to be one-touch and located on the back along with the rear volume controls. 

While it was announced earlier with the other ASUS ZenFone 2 Laser devices, the 6-inch display ASUS ZenFone 2 Laser ZE601KL has yet to make an official appearance in Malaysia. Well, it looks like the roll-out has begun with the ZE601KL now available in India for 17999 INR (RM1131). Notable tech specs and features asides from the 6-inch FHD display is that it will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 processor and either 2GB RAM with 16GB storage or 3GB RAM with 32GB storage along with a 13MP rear camera with laser autofocus and a 5MP front camera. 

The term cameraphone still means that the main feature a phone or smartphone has is its camera with camera centric functions all focused on providing the best camera experience possible. Featuring a 13MP PixelMaster camera and dual-tone LED flash on both the front and back along with laser autofocus for the rear camera, the ASUS ZenFone Selfie seems to fit the bill not only as a cameraphone but also one focused on the art of taking selfies. ASUS and the fashion trend-setting Kim Jones have announced that they are joining forces for the Incredible Catwalk, inspired by the style of the ASUS ZenFone 2. The international fashion adventure spans seven Southeast Asian countries in just seven days to create stunning fashion images based on the national dress for each country. The countries include  India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Philippines, and Vietnam complete with behind-the-scenes videos and more.

The ASUS ZenFone 2 offers a well balanced mix of style and performance. It is also one of the most affordable 4GB RAM smartphones around with the ZenFone 2 ZE551ML 4GB RAM / 32GB storage version going for RM1199. Quite recently a version with 4GB RAM and 16GB storage has appeared onAmazon and other online resellers for just $229 (RM970). While most of the tech specs and features remain the same with a 5.5-inch FHD display and 13MP PixelMaster rear camera, it looks like this version may have the slightly slower 1.8GHz Intel Atom Z3560 processor rather than the 2.3GHz Intel Atom Z3580 processor but both are just as powerful. Still no news of any Malaysia release dates for this version of the ZenFone 2 but it could offer a very tempting below RM1K smartphone for the Malaysian masses.

While the ASUS LolliFlash provides an external light, the ASUS ZenFlash is a dedicated external Xenon flash. Paired together with the ASUS ZenFlash app, you can finetune your flash experience even more, which should make those who take cameraphone photography seriously quite happy. The ASUS ZenFone Selfie offers up a 13MP rear camera with laser autofocus and dual tone LED flash along with a 13MP front camera also with dual tone LED flash. Other tech specs include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor, 2GB RAM and 5.5-inch full HD display to go with a new ZenFone 2 smartphone design. The ASUS ZenFone Selfie recently got launched in Malaysia for RM1049.
