Apple has long been rumoured to be developing its own AR/VR headset and it looks like the product’s release is getting closer as Apple has already gotten a name for the operating system (OS) running on the device. According to reliable tipster Mark Gurman, Apple has decided to call the software xrOS, instead of the previously rumoured RealityOS.

If you recall, it was rumoured that Apple planned to launch its AR headset in Q4 2022. That means there's still a full year or so before that headset is officially out. But Apple is already planning for the future, and will allegedly launch a successor in 2024.

20 years ago, only some people had a portable computing device in the form of a laptop. These days, almost everyone has a smartphone, which can do things that even the laptops of yesteryears couldn't. But in the future, these smartphones could be replaced too.
