Maxis has recently opened up teaser images of the Apple iPad Air and iPad mini with Retina Display. Unlike Celcom and DiGi, Maxis isn't opening any registration of interest forms just yet, but rest assured that they will be offering the tablets with Maxis 4G on their SurfMore data plans. This also means that if you're looking to get either an Apple iPad Air or iPad mini with Retina Display from Maxis you can expect to get the 4G LTE Cellular models that also come with the same prices. Unfortunately, Maxis did not reveal any pricing or Malaysia release dates but many are expecting this to come up in early December 2013 so people can get their Christmas shopping done. When Apple first came out with the Apple iPad mini we loved it's better design as the slimmer bezels and narrower look made it awesome to handle. However, while the 7.9-inch screen was still very good in itself, we wondered why Apple didn't put in a Retina Display like it had with the most recent version (at the time) of the Apple iPad. Turns out, they were waiting for the next generation Apple iPad mini 2 or as Apple wants to call it, the Apple iPad mini with Retina Display. The smaller Apple tablet that could is now a lot more capable as Apple have not only added on the expected (and much wanted) Retina Display, but have also included a very capable hardware upgrade. Read on to see our full review of the Apple iPad mini with Retina Display.

When the Apple iPad mini first came out, it featured the slim bezels and narrower thin looks currently being used by the Apple iPad Air giving the mini the advantage in terms of design. At the time, many users were wondering why the Apple iPad mini didn't have a Retina screen, with many guessing that this and other features would come in the next generation of iPad mini touchscreen tablets. Well, they were right as the Apple iPad mini with Retina Display or iPad mini 2 packs a much denser pixel density and higher resolution screen. It also offers several hardware upgrades, but do these additional features make the Apple iPad mini with Retina Display the better choice? Should you buy the Aple iPad mini with Retina Display even though you may already have an Apple iPad mini? Read our comparison between the Apple iPad mini with Retina Display vs the Apple iPad mini for a full analysis on what you should do.

The 2nd generation Apple iPad Mini also was recently announced but unlike the iPad Air, only gets the standard Apple name of Apple iPad Mini with Retina Display. Yep, finally, Apple has refreshed the iPad Mini with a Retina Display, fulfilling the demands of Apple iPad Mini tablet users around the world. But guess what, they've also added in a little surprise in the form of a brand new 64-bit Apple A7 processor with the M7 motion coprocessor. Again, no Touch ID fingerprint scanner under the Home button. Rather than talk about the thinner and lighter iPad Mini, Apple have instead chosen to talk about the obvious specs of the Retina Display. This is perhaps because the new iPad Mini with Retina Display is actually thicker at 7.5mm (the previous version was 7.2mm) and heavier at 331g (the previous version was 308g). This isn't so obvious when held in the hand, but if you line the two versions up together and look closely, you'll see the difference. Tech specs and features for the Apple iPad Mini with Retina Display include:
- 64-bit A7 chip with M7 motion coprocessor
- 16GB / 32GB / 64GB / 128GB storage
- 7.9-inch Retina Display (2048 x 1536 pixels, 326 ppi pixel density, LED-backlit, IPS, Multi-touch, Fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coating)
- 5MP rear camera (autofocus, face detection, backside illumination, f/2.4 aperture) + 1.2MP FaceTime front camera
- Supports WiFi + Bluetooth + (4G LTE + GPS (Cellular version))
- Supports dual microphones + dual antennas
- 134.7 x 200 x 7.5mm | 331g / 341g (Celluar version)
- 10 hour battery
- Apple iOS 7
