iFixit says Apple iPhone 6 Plus has 1GB RAM

The Apple iPhone 6 Plus got a detailed tear down from the folks at iFixit confirming that the larger Apple iPhone 6 phablet only has 1GB of RAM. They go on to show that the iPhone 6 Plus is also just a bit easier to repair than the previous Apple iPhone 5S. According to them, the iPhone 6 Plus has a repairability factor of 6 over 10. The iPhone 5S had a repair factor of 5 out of 10. Unfortunately, the drop test for the iPhone 6 Plus did not go as well as the drop test for the iPhone 5S so you may have to be a bit more careful with the latest and largest iPhone. Check out the video for yourself in this article but if you'd like more details about the tear-down do check it out at the source.

5 Reasons you should buy an Apple iPhone 6 / iPhone 6 Plus

The Apple iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus mark the first smartphones from Apple to go larger than the previous 4-inch display of the Apple iPhone 5S. Whether it was because they were finally listening to all the Apple fans and users who wanted a bigger screen, or because there is now a huge market for phablets and bigger screen smartphones, the 4.7-inch display Apple iPhone 6 and 5.5-inch display Apple iPhone 6 Plus are here to stay. While many people are enjoying the thinner and rounded looks on the two Apple iPhones, many are still on the fence about it and still have not made the decision to buy either the iPhone 6 or the iPhone 6 Plus. Check out our 5 reasons to buy the Apple iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus below if you need some help deciding or making up your mind.

The Apple iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus have both been revealed finally, but in typical Apple style, they haven't revealed all of the tech specs and details yet. One of the main questions many of our readers and more tech spec inclined users would like to know is:

How much RAM and battery (mAh) does the Apple iPhone 6 / iPhone 6 Plus have?

This question is especially relevant as it gives a better idea as to how the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus smartphones will perform along with how long they will last on a single charge. Check out our analysis below.

  • Apple Malaysia cuts iPhone 5S to RM1999 and iPhone 5C to RM1499

Apple Malaysia cuts iPhone 5S to RM1999 and iPhone 5C to RM1499

While the Apple iPhone 6 and Apple iPhone 6 Plus have yet to arrive in Malaysia, and won't be for another month or so, the Apple iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C have both received a price cut at the Malaysia Apple Store. The 16GB version Apple iPhone 5S now starts from RM1999 (previously it was RM2399), while the 32GB version will be priced at RM2199. An 8GB Apple iPhone 5C on the other hand will be priced from RM1499, with no 16GB or 32GB version available at the Malaysia Apple Store. Colours remain the same though, with the iPhone 5S coming in silver, gold and space gray while the iPhone 5C comes in vlue, green, pink, yellow and white. We expect the pricing at Malaysian telcos to go down even further soon, perhaps even for FREE for the Apple iPhone 5S (the iPhone 5C is already free). We also expect the higher-end 16GB and 32GB Apple iPhone 5C and 64GB Apple iPhone 5S smartphones in stock to either get a quick sale or disappear off the shelves quietly.

  • Apple iPhone 6 officially announced, 4.7-inch display + 64-bit A8 processor + 8MP camera

    Apple iPhone 6 officially announced, 4.7-inch display + 64-bit A8 processor + 8MP camera

In what has become the most leaked Apple iPhone to date, the Apple iPhone 6 has finally and officially been announced. Confirming most of the rumours, the Apple iPhone 6 will come in two versions, one with a 4.7-inch display and another with a 5.5-inch display. The 4.7-inch display version will be called the Apple iPhone 6. If you've seen the previously leaked dummy versions, not much has changed with the official iPhone 6. This means you get a 6.9mm thin metal chassis with rounded corners and sides. The most notable confirmed and unconfirmed features include the fact that it will not be using sapphire crystal glass, instead it will be using glass much like Corning Gorilla Glass 3 (Corning Gorilla Glass 3 was not named specifically). While the previous Apple iPhone 5S focused more on health, the newer focus for the iPhone 6 looks to be the camera as Apple are throwing in an image signal processor and faster auto-focus to help the still 8MP rear camera handle things. Notable new features of the Apple iPhone 6 can be seen in the article.

  • Apple iPhone and iWatch coming on 9 September 2014?

Apple iPhone and iWatch coming on 9 September 2014?

Apple has sent out invitations for an event on 9 September 2014. The invite doesn't give much of a hint apart from the title "Wish we could say more". However, many are expecting the event to reveal the Apple iPhone 6 or at least the version with the 4.7-inch display. Already, any number of Apple iPhone 6 clones have appeared, many of which have been confirmed to be how the original will look like. Other devices may also make an appearance such as the Apple iWatch and possibly some premium Audio devices from Apple's recent purchase of Beats Audio. The final version of iOS 8 is also expected to be available on the same date but there are still no details on Malaysia release dates or pricing. If we were to follow the trend we should see the Malaysia launch in November 2014 at $100 (RM315) more than the previous Apple iPhone 5S.

  • Metal-frame Samsung Galaxy Alpha officially announced

Metal-frame Samsung Galaxy Alpha officially announced

Samsung fans have waited a long time for a semi-premium smartphone made from metal, and Samsung have finally given in by officially announcing the Samsung Galaxy Alpha. Rumoured to be the Samsung smartphone with the brushed metal backside, this appears to be still a rumour as only the frame is solid metal, but it does a lot to making the phone feel more premium. The Galaxy Alpha should now have less flex and feel a lot more sturdy compared to the larger and thicker yet more plastic build of the Samsung Galaxy S5. The perforated design on the back casing remains the same though just as the back material is also still plastic. Ironically, the Galaxy Alpha is much lighter at 115g and super thin at just 6.7mm. Check out the full tech specs and feature list for the Samsung Galaxy Alpha below:

Rumours: more metal body Samsung Galaxy Alpha pics leaked

More pictures of the metal body Samsung Galaxy Alpha have appeared and this time they are quite clear. The pictures reveal a fairly standard design with a matte white backside. No sign of any brushed metal back cover as shown in previous press renders but the sides reveal a flat and thin design very similar to an Apple iPhone 5s. Tech specs and features have yet to be confirmed but rumours indicate that they will be midrange. Further tech spec details include an octa-core Samsung Exynos 5433 processor, 2GB RAM, 32GB storage, 4.8-inch display with 720p pixel resolution, 12MP rear camera, 2MP front camera and Android 4.4.4. No Malaysia release dates or pricing details just yet, but it could likely be unveiled at the upcoming Samsung UNPACKED 2014 event alongside the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 on 3 September 2014. Check out the pictures for yourself below.

  • Maxis offers Samsung Galaxy S5 trade-in from RM199

Maxis offers Samsung Galaxy S5 trade-in from RM199

After dropping the bundle pricing for the Samsung Galaxy S5 down to RM1199 with the Raya for Gaya promotion, Maxis are now offering a trade-in program as well for the Galaxy S5. Like the Apple iPhone 5S trade-in program, you can trade-in any phone but certain smartphones will get better discounts. The highest discount is with the Apple iPhone 5 which gives you a discount of RM1000, effectively lowering the price down to RM199. As usual, the offer is only valid for a 24-month contract and up until 31 August 2014 but for more details check the table and links in this article.

  • Apple iPhone 6 clone shows up in video as Wico i6

Apple iPhone 6 clone shows up in video as Wico i6

We recently reported on Apple iPhone 6 clones with 4.7-inch displays appearing several months ahead of the actual Apple iPhone 6 smartphone. Well, now you can see it in a comparison video with the Apple iPhone 5s where it reveals itself as the Wico i6. Quite obviously, the 4.7-inch screen is not a Retina Display and the operating system is not iOS. Tech specs and features for the Wico i6 include a quad-core processor, 2GB RAM, 32GB storage, Android 4.4 KitKat and the aforementioned 4.7-inch screen with a 960 x 1704 pixel resolution. The camera has an LED flash but we doubt that the home button holds any form of Touch ID fingerprint scanner. Pricing is around $200 (RM639) to $300 (RM959) and we expect it to appear in Malaysia with third-party sellers anytime now. Be warned though, that this Wico i6 and other clones are not guaranteed to look exactly like the Apple iPhone 6 which is due in September 2014 so you may just be buying a cheap knockoff of a prototype.
