While you guys were out and about today, 2 much anticipated smartphones were launched in China. One of them being the ASUS ROG Phone 2 and the second one being the HONOR 9X series. Both phones managed to wow us with reasonable tech specs and impressive features and we're wondering which one we liked better.

Just before the week got busy, ASUS laid the first cracker by revealing the ROG Phone 2. This gaming smartphone beast is a much-improved version from the predecessor featuring high-end tech specs and with today's official launching, the official price tag will start from 3499 Yuan (~RM2093).

Hot dayum, just when we thought the ASUS ROG Phone 2 will be announced tomorrow from the intended date, the full tech specs and features are already out officially by a day earlier. Most of the rumoured tech specs came out true, but this is truly a mega beast gaming phone as it features very badass tech specs such as the 6000mAh battery, up to 12GB of RAM and more!

The ASUS ROG Phone 2 has appeared on China’s TENAA sporting a massive 5800 mAh battery (that's tablet territory already!) with 30W fast charging (the previous ROG Phone has a 4000 mAh battery). Other tech specs listed include a 6.59-inch AMOLED display which is rumoured to be able to switch between 60Hz and 120Hz and 170.99 x 77.6 x 9.78 mm measurements which does mean a significantly thicker ASUS ROG or Republic of Gamers Phone.

We are just a week away from the reveal of the ASUS ROG Phone 2 in China, but leaks on the gaming device aren't coming out a lot. However, someone has taken some photos and we gotta say...it actually looks more or less the same as the predecessor.

Today, Qualcomm has officially announced the Snapdragon 855+ chipset, which will be included in ASUS’ upcoming ROG Phone 2 that is due to be unveiled on 23 July 2019. The Snapdragon 855+ is basically a product binned Snapdragon 855 with higher clock speeds. For the uninitiated, product binning is the process of picking out chipsets that are capable of performing faster than usual. These chips will then end up in various products that frequently operate under workloads, that require higher-performing chipsets.

ASUS' ROG Phone 2 is already on the way and although there is not much known about the hardcore gaming phone, here's one thing we know about it - the display will be able to support up to 120Hz. Talk about overkill there!
