After having some fun with the ASUS ZenFone 3 Zoom engineering sample we managed to get some time with the ASUS ZenFone 3 Zoom ZE553KL production unit which is coming to Malaysia in black for RM2099. We then did an unboxing, hands-on and camera sample showcase video with the ZE553KL. Check it out below to see what you'll get with the final OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) enabled version.

A media invite for an ASUS event recently got circulated revealing the release date of what we assume to be the ASUS ZenFone 3 Zoom for Malaysia which could be sometime from April till March 2017. We recently managed to get some time with an engineering sample of the new ZenFone and even though it still wasn't the production unit it still managed to wow us with its dual Pixel, dual rear cameras, 2.3x optical zoom and 5 day battery life. The new ZenFone 3 Zoom is expected to come in black and we're looking forward to what the full production unit can do. As always, do take this with a grain of salt but this seems like a fairly valid rumour so stay tuned and tell us what you think at TechNave.com.

The dual rear camera and dual pixel enabled ASUS ZenFone 3 Zoom got officially announced in Taiwan with pricing details for the 4GB RAM version starting from TWD$14,990 (~RM2160). No Malaysia release dates or pricing details yet but at this pricing and the features we uncovered with our hands-on videos, we expect the ZenFone 3 Zoom to be a fairly solid flagship killer.

Due to overwhelming response (Thanks TechNavers!), we've put together the camera hands-on video for the ASUS ZenFone 3 Zoom. Granted, the version that we have is still very much a work in progress as OIS or Optical Image Stabilization has been deactivated and you can't save it as RAW (which is a feature that ASUS says it will have), but we did put the dual pixel camera sensor through its paces. We were pleasantly impressed and are looking forward to how it will perform when we get the full version but do check it out for yourself.

ASUS certainly has made an impression at the CES 2017 last week, showing off the latest dual camera smartphone Zenfone 3 Zoom. In case you missed it, the Zenfone 3 Zoom works similar to the Apple iPhone 7 Plus, just that it has a 2.3x magnified option before zooming in digitally. Not much information was shown at the event, not even the price until today that is.

Dual sensor cameras are currently dime a dozen, and as more companies are starting to come out with new products featuring these sensors, new standout features needs to be incorporated to make them stand out from the crowd. Take ASUS for example. Their latest ZenFone 3 Zoom, the successor to the original Zenfone Zoom, is now official – featuring dual sensors and a really huge battery.

ASUS has always been in the forefront of trying new technologies in their products. One of the memorable products (but maybe a bit flawed in certain situations) is the ASUS Zenfone Zoom. We actually reviewed the smartphone, right here. Now we may see an update to this smartphone, in the form of the Zenfone 3 Zoom.

As ASUS continues to churn out their ASUS ZenFone 3 iterations, rumours from a reliable Mr. Anonymous has appeared stating that we may see the ASUS ZenFone 3 Zoom and ASUS ZenFone AR in Q1 of 2017. According to this Mr. Anonymous, the ZenFone 3 Zoom will have dual rear cameras with one of them being a telephoto lens with more than the 3x optical zoom that the original ZenFone Zoom had (probably 5x). It will ditch the Hoya lens system though and probably use a Snapdragon 821 processor with 4GB to 6GB RAM tech specs.
