Today, the Malaysian government has announced the movement control order will be extended until 14 April 2020. It is not surprising at all as cases in our country have been increasing these few days. Therefore, it is better to stay home for a few more weeks to halt the spread. However, this may not be good news for some of the non-essential businesses especially micro-SMEs. Luckily, Axiata is here to save the day with its subsidiaries Celcom and Boost, as they’re contributing a RM150 million cash fund to support small businesses that are facing difficulties.

Yesterday, I was lucky enough to attend a keynote panel discussion hosted by edotco where notable figures such as CEO of Time Broadband Afzal Abdul Rahim, CEO of Robi Axiata Limited Mahtab Uddin Ahmed, Head of BCG Vaishali Rastogi, as well as Chairman of MCMC Encik Al-ishal Ishak were present. They then discuss the state of Malaysia's network infrastructure and whether it is enough to support the upcoming 5G network which will start to roll out sometime next year.

With 31 of August 2019 coming up on Saturday, Axiata Group Berhad and Celcom Axiata Berhad showcased a short film on unity in Malaysia called ‘Getaran Pertama’ about the first choir to sing ‘Negaraku’. Based on true events in 1957, the film utilizes holographic technology and will be available for viewing from 12.00am on 28 August 2019 at the Celcom site with outreach activities showcasing the film with choir performances happening on 30 August 2019 from 6.00pm to 7.00pm.

The Kuala Lumpur Majors has been announced at a launch event and it will be held at the Axiata Arena with pre-sale tickets which will be priced 20% cheaper which is available starting today from partners such as U Mobile while public tickets will be available at 17 September 2018. There will be 3 different ticket prices available starting from the cheapest “Ancient” category which is priced at RM180 while the “Divine” and “Immortal” category while be priced at RM330 and RM600 respectively.
