    OnePlus X and BlackBerry Classic officially discontinued

    Both the OnePlus X and BlackBerry Classic have officially been discontinued. With no plans in the works for a successor, it looks like the OnePlus X is dead in the water after only 7 months availability. The BlackBerry Classic may have had a longer run of 18 months, but it also looks like BlackBerry is trimming down their product lines.

    Celcom launches BlackBerry Classic exclusively with Celcom FIRST

    BlackBerry fans who have not made the move to the new BlackBerry Passport but still want a new BlackBerry device rejoice! The BlackBerry Classic has arrived in Malaysia exclusively under Celcom with their Celcom FIRST post-paid plans. Retaining many of the same features as the BlackBerry Bold 9900, the BlackBerry Classic has the same QWERTY keyboard with stainless steel frets along with the classic trackpad. The Classic is available from today at all Celcom Blue Cube stores from RM338 (the retail price is RM1588). It will be exclusive to Celcom up until 1 March 2015. The Classic will run BlackBerry Enterprise Solutions (BES12) which allows cross platform control management for all devices including Android, BlackBerry, iOS and Windows Phone devices.

    If you don't want to sign up with a FIRST plan, you can also opt for a Celcom Max Up All or Max Up plan. The Max Up All plan offers 250 SMS, 1GB Internet, 1GB WiFi surfing and 250 minutes from as low as RM50. The Max Up plan on the other hand offers 1GB Internet surfing from RM15 and 5GB Internet RM50. Enterprise users still have the option to choose from Celcom FIRST plans. Aside from the BES12 suite, other apps such as the BBM meeting which allows group video calls and sharing and BBM Blend are also included. These solutions are enterprise ready with encryption applied throughout these applications to offer better overall security and peace of mind.

    BlackBerry Classic officially announced for $449 (RM1579)

    The BlackBerry Classic has officially been announced featuring the iconic trackpad and keyboard from before. The Classic retains many of the same design features as the BlackBerry Bold 9900 but updates the tech specs and other features. These include a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB storage with microSD support, a 3.5-inch display with 720 x 720 pixel resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. An 8MP rear camera with LED flash and 2MP front camera complete the list. While there are still no Malaysia release dates or pricing available yet, it is retailing at $449 (RM1579) and comes with BlackBerry 10.3 OS right out of the box.
