Despite launching on 2 January, the number of people updating their info on the Central Database Hub (PADU) remained low, with it not even achieving 20% after nearly two months. Accordingly, a local NGO has urged for the registration due date to be extended so that more people can update their info.

The Central Database Hub (PADU) passed a significant milestone yesterday, recording over 3 million registrations. Specifically, PADU through its official Facebook page announced that 3.08 million Malaysians and permanent residents (PRs) have updated their info on the database as of 11.59pm on 13 February 2024.

The Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) has revealed that a total of 2.69 million individuals have registered for the Central Database Hub (PADU) as of yesterday (6 February). Furthermore, DOSM also asserted that Kelantan recorded one of the highest sign-up rates in the country.

Chief Statistician of the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Uzir Mahidin has warned Malaysians against registering for the Central Database Hub (PADU) at the last minute. This is because doing so can cause the system to get congestion.

The Public Service Department (JPA) has announced that all civil servants in Malaysia are required to register and update their information on the Central Database Hub (PADU) system by 15 February. This is according to a circular by the department dated 17 January that was uploaded to its Facebook page.

Since its launch on 2 January, over 1 million citizens and permanent residents have signed up for the Central Database Hub (PADU). However, that’s a far cry from the targeted 29 million registrations by 31 March, with Terengganu recording one of the lowest signups in the country. 

Previously, we reported on the major flaw of the Central Database Hub (PADU) recently launched by the Federal Government. Now, the Economy Ministry has allayed any concerns, saying that swift actions have been taken to address the issue and several others related to PADU.
