The hype around audio chat rooms has mostly died down. As the app considered the trend starter, Clubhouse has been particularly quiet over the last few months. However, the company now just released a major feature for its users.

Last month, Clubhouse finally dropped its invite-only system, allowing anyone on iOS and Android to join the platform. Now, the company has to come up with ways to keep its users around. And it seems that new audio features are on the cards.

Audio chat rooms are the new thing in 2021, one that was first popularised when Clubhouse rose to prominence. But competitors have appeared in recent months, and Clubhouse must have realised it can no longer be exclusive.

According to sources, Clubhouse had rolled out a new feature which is "Backchannel". This feature allows the users to communicate by direct messaging without going through third-party apps such as Whatsapp or Telegram.

Last month, Android users finally got to enjoy and experience Clubhouse. Here, we spotted Spotify also launched their first social audio platform which is Greenroom, and it is available to Android and iOS users across 135 countries.

Due to the sudden popularity of Clubhouse, many tech brands try to create their own version to mimic the success. For Facebook, they too are developing one and will be testing a new Live Audio Rooms today in the US timezone (15 June 1 PM EDT).

Today, Clubhouse for Android has finally made its way to Malaysia and everyone can now download it on the Google Play Store for free. As expected, it's still an invite-only app but you can still register a username before your friend invites you into it.

We have been writing a few posts about Clubhouse now and it seems that the global launch is ready. According to the official Clubhouse Twitter account, the app will be rolling out around the world this week. While no date was specified, sources say it would be this Friday.

If you are an Android user, you may not get what Clubhouse is all about. The audio-only chat app first appeared last year for iOS, but an Android version is finally on its way. Specifically, it's now out for users in the US, with other countries to get it later.

Based on a statement by Clubhouse on notion.so, it seems that they have started rolling out beta version of the Clubhouse app to Android users. With that in mind, we can expect the clubhouse app to be officially available on Android within a few months.
