The Samsung Galaxy S23 series is set to be released this 2 February and we just got confirmation that the series will be the first to utilise the latest generation of Gorilla Glass. Announced in a statement yesterday (26 January 2023), Corning said that the next Galaxy flagship devices are set to feature Gorilla Glass Victus 2.

Corning has launched the second generation of the Gorilla Glass Victus. The successor of the one that arrived in 2020 brings improvements that mainly focus on drop resistance. Now, let's look at what it does to help future smartphones become stronger!

Many people who have a smartphone has heard of Corning. The company manufacturers the Gorilla Glass series that's used to protect the displays on our phones. But brands are now using glass to protect other components like the camera lenses.

As most smartphone enthusiasts know, a Corning Gorilla Glass is mostly featured on premium devices but sometimes it would appear on mid to upper mid-range devices as well. The current version is Gorilla Glass 6 and after two years, the company have revealed a new Gorilla Glass Victus that will be introduced in the future.

Foldable smartphones are cool devices, but without proper protective measures, they can be damaged. That's why Samsung uses an Ultra Thin Glass (UTG) to layer on top of its devices. But the UTG adds to the price of a foldable phone, so Samsung has been looking into reducing the cost of the component. To do this, the company is teaming up with Corning to develop a cheaper type of UTG.
