Maxis Bhd’s board of directors have announced that the company will be seeking shareholders’ approval to enter into the 5G access agreement with Digital Nasional Bhd (DNB). Moreover, the company intends to complete the approvals process by January 2023 and will only commercially launch 5G-related products and services afterwards.

Caretaker Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz has lauded the implementation of the Digital Nasional Bhd (DNB) 5G access agreement, saying that it will enable mobile network operators (MNOs) in our country to save up to RM30 billion over the next decade. The agreement is the world’s first single wholesale 5G network and allows MNOs to save on infrastructure construction costs.

Like the rest of the telcos, Celcom also announced that it has subscribed to Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB)'s 5G single wholesale network. Starting from 1 November 2022, Celcom customers, including Celcom Business customers, who have 5G-enabled devices and are subscribed to selected Celcom postpaid and prepaid plans, will automatically be able to access 5G network services within 5G coverage areas.
