Today, the news of Disney+ launching in Malaysia is finally coming true. As expected like our neighbour, Singapore, the name will be Disney+ Hotstar and will start streaming on 1 June 2021. Besides the huge library collection of Disney movies, Star Wars and the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there will be local contents as well such as J2 J Retribusi, Ejen Ali and more.

After a long wait, it seems that Disney is finally making a move into the Malaysian market with Disney. It appears that several hours ago, the company set up a Facebook and Instagram page named Disneyplushotstarmy. For some reason, the Facebook page has been taken down except for the latter.

Since Disney Plus has yet to come to Malaysia, the company may end up launching a separate streaming service first. Disney has announced that it will be launching a new video streaming platform in 2021 and that it will be under the Star brand name. This platform is expected to feature general entertainment and will not have any licensed content.
