Based on a statement by wabetainfo.com, it seems that it could be possible to share contact info via QR code on WhatsApp very soon. While there is no official information in regards to when the feature will be available to the public, a beta version of WhatsApp with the QR scanning feature is currently available starting from today onwards.

According to his Facebook post, the initiative is to help SMEs to start a shop online and sell their things directly on Facebook.
