As most Malaysians know by now, inflation has caused a spike in Grab prices. A number of GrabFood drivers have also complained their pay was cut by the company and this goes the same for Foodpanda delivery partners too. That said, the drivers are planning to go on a strike tomorrow (5 August 2022) for 24 hours.

Grab Malaysia today announced the launch of Grab Intercity, a new service that allows users to purchase bus and ferry tickets via the Grab app. The service has over 15,000 routes to purchase tickets for, including direct bus routes to Singapore.

Indonesian tech giant Gojek has today clarified that it has no plans to offer its e-hailing services in Malaysia as of yet. This is amidst the rumours that Gojek is potentially expanding to our country after a vehicle with the company’s branding was spotted in Kuala Lumpur.

Previously, we reported on the reasons as to why e-hailing fares saw a sudden surge in Malaysia, with one of the reasons being an imbalanced supply-and-demand. Well, it looks like there would be a silver lining as two new developments may rectify the matter in the near future.

Transport Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong has warned e-hailing companies that their licences will be revoked or suspended if they violate the allowed surcharge amount. Currently, the amount is set at 200 percent of the base fare.

If you frequently use e-hailing services such as Grab and airasia Super App, I'm sure you would notice that the fares have surged greatly. This has, of course, caused a financial burden for most Malaysians and many of us aren't happy with it. Just recently, Wee Ka Siong from the Ministry of Transport (MOT) has met up with the e-hailing operators (EHOs) on the matter.

Grab is set to launch a new brand called GrabFin which will combine Grab Financial Group’s (GFG) payments and financial services features. Announced in a statement yesterday, the new arm offers users a single entry point to access payment, investment and insurance services on the Grab application.

By now, most of the youths have already claimed their ePemula credits but we also saw lots of memes on Twitter. On the platform, it seems that many of them are rather disappointed by some of the limitations.

Update: The Grab app services are back online

If you can't seem to get a Grab driver at this hour, you're not alone. Grab Malaysia just posted that the servers are experiencing a service disruption at this very moment. From our end, we haven't tried using any of the services but it seems that the promotions on the homepage are missing entirely.
