Today, Malaysia’s five leading mobile operators — CelcomDigi, Maxis, U Mobile, Telekom Malaysia (TM), and YTL Communications — have jointly announced the rollout of a federated network service under the global GSMA Open Gateway initiative. The purpose? They will be working together to tackle fraud and digital identity theft in the country’s fast-growing online economy.

Qualcomm and Thales in a joint statement today announced the world’s first GSMA-compliant iSIM that is embedded into a modified version of the former’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. It seems that this is what realme would be doing, except in a new location.

As of yesterday (25 February), Digi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd (“Digi”) has announced their support for the GSMA Connected Women Commitment initiative at the Mobile World Congress 2016 in Barcelona. This makes Digi the first GSMA the only Malaysia telco to collaborate with GSMA and global mobile operators to educate and equip women in low- and middle-income countries with in basic computer and internet knowledge by 2020.
