The entry-level to midrange smartphone market in Malaysia is quickly becoming crowded with quite a lot of choices for around RM600. While it isn't too difficult to find a smartphone within this price range with a phablet sized 5.5-inch display finding one that combines the best value with good build quality and attention to detail is still fairly hard. Our previous preview with the Honor 4X revealed that it could well be one of  these phones but in our full review below we make sure if the Honor 4X is really worthy of your money and attention so check it out below.

Huawei Honor 6 Plus unboxing video, some extra freebies included

The Huawei Honor 6 Plus was recently launched alongside the Honor 4C at the recent Honor Malaysia 1st Anniversary Celebrations and introduced a number of interesting features which included a Kirin 925 processor, dual parallel rear camera with dual LED flash and more. Priced at RM1399, Honor Malaysia were kind enough to drop off the Honor 6 Plus for review here at TechNave.com and we've done a quick unboxing. While the usual suspects of a pair of headphones, a charger and microUSB cable were revealed the unboxing also showed that Honor Malaysia have also packed along dual screen protectors for the front and back. Now if only all of us had the skills to put it on with no bubbles. We're certainly thankful for the extra value Honor Malaysia have added to the Honor 6 Plus package but we'll probably look up some more skilled help for the screen protector application. The hands-on and review are coming soon so stay tuned for those but for now you can check out our unboxing video in this article.

  • Rumours: Honor 4C Note and 4C Max coming soon?

Rumours: Honor 4C Note and 4C Max coming soon?

While the Honor 4C smartphone has already been more or less confirmed for tomorrow's upcoming Honor Malaysia 1st Year celebrations, rumours indicate that a number of other Honor 4C devices could also be coming as well. With the Honor 4C coming in with a 5-inch display, a leaked picture reveals a larger Honor 4C Note and Honor 4C Max. While the Honor 4C will retain the same look as the Honor 4X with similar tech specs like a 64-bit octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 620 processor, 2GB of RAM and 8GB storage, tech specs for the Honor 4C Note and Honor 4C Max have not been revealed yet. We expect the Honor 4C Note to go for a 5.7-inch display while the Honor 4C Max goes for a 6-inch to 7-inch display. As always with such rumours, do take this with a pinch of salt, but we should find out more very soon.

  • Honor 6 Plus and Honor 4C coming to Malaysia on 28 April 2015

Honor 6 Plus and Honor 4C coming to Malaysia on 28 April 2015

In conjunction with their first Anniversary Celebrations, Honor Malaysia will be launching their new dual-camera Honor 6 Plus and Honor 4C smartphones for Malaysia on 28 April 2015. While you can still register up until 6pm today for the Anniversary Celebration, only 30 lucky winners will be selected but there are guaranteed door gifts. The new Honor 6 Plus on the other hand offers a unique 13MP dual rear camera setup, 5.5-inch display and 1.8GHz octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 925 processor. Other tech specs include 3GB RAM, 32GB storage, 8MP front camera, 4G LTE connectivity, an IR blaster and a metal frame design much like the Honor 6. The Honor 4C on the other hand is likely to place in between the Honor 3C Lite and the Honor 4X. Featuring a similar tough polycarbonate backside the Honor 4C shrinks the screen down to a 5-inch display but retains a HD 720 x 1280 pixel resolution. It will likely still pack in a 64-bit 1.2GHz octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 620 processor with 2GB RAM and 8GB storage along with a 13MP rear camera and 5MP front camera. The smaller screen will also mean a slightly smaller battery at 2550 mAh. Stay tuned and we may have some hands-on with the new devices just next week.

  • Rumoured Huawei P8 Lite certified by TENAA

Rumoured Huawei P8 Lite certified by TENAA

It isn't that much of a secret that the Huawei P8 is coming soon, even as soon as 15 April 2015. However, a lower-end version of the smartphone called the Huawei P8 Lite was recently rumoured to be coming along with the Huawei P8 which has in turn been rumoured to come with an updated Kirin 935 processor with better graphics. Recently, the Huawei P8 Lite became a reality with it's TENAA certification in China. Tech specs and features for the Huawei P8 Lite include a 1.2GHz octa-core Kirin 620 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB storage and 5-inch display with 720 x 1280 pixel resolution. Featuring a 13MP rear camera and 5MP front camera it is starting to sound a lot like the Honor 4C but the Huawei P8 Lite measures in at 7.7mm thin and 131g. No news about Malaysia release dates or pricing details yet.

  • Honor 4C seen on TENAA, coming to Malaysia soon?

Honor 4C seen on TENAA, coming to Malaysia soon?

With the recent announcement and release of the Honor 4X for RM619 on pre-order it looks like we'll soon be seeing a lower-end version of the smartphone in the form of the Honor 4C which recently made an appearance at China's TENAA. Tech specs include a slightly slower but still octa-core 1.2GHz processor (probably still the 64-bit Kirin 620), 2GB of RAM, 8GB storage and a smaller 5-inch display with 720 x 1280 pixel resolution. The cameras remain the same though with a 13MP rear camera and 5MP front camera. For the looks of the pictures, this Honor 4C smartphone retains the same cross-thatch design on the cover as the Honor 4X and retains the same capacitive function keys as the Honor 4X. No Malaysia release dates or pricing details yet, but with the Honor 4X retailing from RM619 to RM699 we assume that the Honor 4C would go for around RM499 to RM599, slotting in between the Honor 3C Lite and the Honor 4X or perhapseven replacing the Honor 3C.

  • Honor 4X coming to Malaysia on 1 April 2015?

Honor 4X coming to Malaysia on 1 April 2015?

The Honor Malaysia Facebook page has just hinted something coming soon to Malaysia with a countdown to 1 April 2015. Looking through the various Honor devices previously announced it is a high chance that it could be the Honor 4X with it's 64-bit processor, 4G LTE connectivity, 13MP camera and 5.5-inch display tech specs. No pricing details yet but we assume that a prebook period could be coming soon as well. Previously we had a chance to have some hands-on time and do a preview of the Honor 4X revealing that it is the Kirin 620 powered version which could mean a price range from RM499 to RM799 as the 2GB Kirin 620 version was initially sold for $161 (RM566). If you're interested in the Honor 4X do check out our previous hands-on video and preview for an exclusive look at the upcoming phablet from Honor. In related news, there have been rumours about a slightly lower-end version of the 4X which considering Honor's current naming system could be called the Honor 4C. Hopefully our anonymous tipster comes through with some more info but for now stay tuned as we keep track of the latest developments.
