Rumours: Huawei Ascend P8 coming in March 2015?

Pictures and a release date for the Huawei Ascend P8 smartphone have reportedly appeared. The pictures show the metal frame of the Ascend P8 and from a comparison with the Ascend P7, the P8 looks to be slightly thinner. Considering that the Ascend P7 was already quite thin at 6.5mm we're guessing that the Ascend P8 will probably shave it down to 6.3 or 6.1mm thin. While there are no details on actual tech specs, we expect it to use the latest HiSilicon Kirin processor from Huawei, perhaps the 925 or better and it would be great if they could manage to fit a one-touch fingerprint scanner like on the Huawei Ascend Mate 7. There are still no details on Malaysia release dates but the Ascend P8 is expected to get announced in March 2015 with a probable Malaysia release date happening sometime in June 2015 (about the same time as the Ascend P7).

  • Huawei announces Ascend GX1 smartphone for CNY1590 (RM893)

Huawei announces Ascend GX1 smartphone for CNY1590 (RM893)

After making an appearance at Tenaa just yesterday, Huawei has announced the Huawei Ascend GX1 officially at just CNY 1590 (RM893). Bearing a design very similar to the Huawei Ascend Mate 7, the thin bezel GX1 features a large 6-inch IPS display with 720p pixel resolution. Other tech specs include a 64-bit 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor, 1GB RAM 8GB storage and 3500 mAh battery with support for 4G LTE, NFC, dual SIM and an 8MP rear camera with a 2MP front camera. The Ascend GX1 measures in at 161 x 84.5 x 9.2mm and 173g which could mean it is the lower-end version of the Ascend Mate 7. No Malaysia release dates or pricing yet, but we expect this to come to Malaysia in early 2015 as it is already selling in the China VMALL site.

Huawei Ascend Mate 7 smartphone first look + product demo video

The nearly bezel-free Huawei Ascend Mate 7 smartphone is the latest flagship smartphone from Huawei and it has just reached Malaysian shores. Thanks to Huawei Malaysia we were able to get some hands-on time with it. At first glance, it seems like the Ascend Mate7 has nearly no bezels for an edge-to-edge touchscreen experience with it's 6-inch full HD 1080p display. Unlike the previous flat and thin Ascend P7, the back feels more rounded, providing a more comfortable grip. Trying out the single-touch fingerprint sensor on the back, we found it to work fairly well, about as fast as the single-touch Touch ID fingerprint scanner on the Apple iPhone 5S and upwards. The overall look for the Ascend Mate7 is very premium with most of the body made up of a shiny aluminum alloy. Huawei Malaysia expect the standard 2GB RAM with 16GB storage version to arrive on 14 November 2014 for RM1799 but do check out our first look photos in this article.

  • Huawei Ascend Mate 7 smartphone coming to Malaysia on 13 November 2014

Huawei Ascend Mate 7 smartphone coming to Malaysia on 13 November 2014

Huawei Malaysia has recently sent out invites for an event happening on the 13 of November 2014. The invite clearly shows the back of the Huawei Ascend Mate 7 with it's fingerprint sensor, indicating that we could see the phablet make an appearance there. Asides from a fingerprint sensor, other features include a near bezel-free x-inch display and Huawei's latest Kirin 925 octa -core processor along with up to 3GB of RAM. Priced at 499 euros (RM2047) with the 3GB RAM and 32GB storage version going from 599 euros (RM2458), we're hoping the Huawei Ascend Mate 7 is priced a bit more affordably here in Malaysia. While there is no news about other devices launching here in Malaysia along with it, the Ascend Mate 7 launched together with the Huawei Ascend G7 smartphone in China, so it could be coming here too. No actual Malaysia release dates just yet, but we'll find out about it in the next couple of weeks so stay tuned for more developments. Huawei Honor 6 now available in Malaysia for RM999, with 8-inch Honor Tablet for RM599

Right on time, Huawei Malaysia have launched their Huawei Honor 6 smartphone in Malaysia for RM999. Featuring Huawei's own octa-core Hi-Silicon Kirin 920 processor and other high-end tech specs like 3GB of RAM, a 5-inch full HD 1080p resolution display, 4G LTE Cat6, a 13MP rear camera with Sony IMX214 sensor and an aluminum metal casing, it should be available on 17 October 2014 at VMALL.my and Lelong.com. We managed to get a little hands-on time with it and it certainly looks and feels a lot more premium than the price tag would suggest.

  • Huawei Honor 6 coming to Malaysia on 27 September 2014

Huawei Honor 6 coming to Malaysia on 27 September 2014

The recently announced Huawei Honor 6 is set to come to Malaysia as soon as 27 September 2014 with appearances at Huawei's VMALL.my site along with their Facebook Page. Tech specs for the smartphone are quite high-end including a 1.7GHz octa-core Hi-Silicon Kirin 920 processor, 3GB RAM, 16GB storage with 64GB microSD, 5-inch 1080p display, 13MP rear camera, 5MP front camera and 3100 mAh battery. Other notable features includes an instant shot of 0.6 second (faster than the 1.4 seconds on the Huawei Ascend P7), hardware-based HDR, dual-LED flash and a wide angle 5MP front camera. While there is no specific Malaysia release date or pricing, the Honor 6 was priced at 1999 yuan (RM1056) so there is a high chance that it could cost somewhere around RM1099. This would make it a very attractive smartphone with top of the line tech specs. In addition, Huawei are also offering 6 Huawei Honor 6 smartphones up for grabs via their Facebook Page.

  • Huawei Ascend Mate 7 and Ascend G7 officially announced

Huawei Ascend Mate 7 and Ascend G7 officially announced

After a whole bunch of teasers, Huawei has unveiled the Huawei Ascend Mate7 and Ascend G7 smartphones at the IFA 2014. The Huawei Ascend Mate7 is a nearly bezel-free flagship smartphone with a large 6-inch full HD display and a single-touch fingerprint scanner and much more. The Huawei Ascend G7 on the other hand is their metal-body midrange smartphone with 4G LTE. While the Ascend G7 has the more obvious looking metal body, the Ascend Mate7 is actually made up of more than 95% metal, in particular aluminum alloy for the interior structure and frame. Both smartphones are quite slim at 7.9mm thin for the Ascend Mate7 and 7.6mm thin for the Ascend G7 and will come with Huawei's latest EMUI 3.0 user interface. Check out the tech specs for both the Huawei Ascend Mate7 and Huawei Ascend G7 below:

  • Huawei Ascend P7 Sapphire Edition confirmed with sapphire crystal display

Huawei Ascend P7 Sapphire Edition confirmed with sapphire crystal display

The rumoured Huawei Ascend P7 smartphone with a sapphire crystal display has finally been confirmed ahead of IFA 2014. Like the previous Arsenal Edition, the sapphire crystal covered version will be called the Huawei Ascend P7 Sapphire Edition. Tech specs and features are expected to be more or less the same as the Huawei Ascend P7 and this includes 4G LTE, a 13MP rear camera and 1.8 GHz quad-core HiSilicon Kirin 910T processor. No news yet if the sapphire crystal display will make the 6.5mm thin smartphone thicker but we assume that it will make it heavier than the super-light 124g of the original device. This is because while sapphire crystal is tougher it is also heavier than glass. No news on Malaysia release dates or pricing but we expect the Sapphire Edition to cost a bit more than the normal version. However, since the tech specs and features should not differ too much, if you're interested in getting the Sapphire Edition our Huawei Ascend P7 review may help you make that decision better.
