So the first wave of Apple XS series has just been released globally, in case you didn't know, it features the latest A12 Bionic processor that measures 7nm only. Apple is not the only one with the 7nm processor, as Huawei's new Kirin 980 processor has the same size and the company is actually quite confident that it's better than Apple's.

Recently, an image of the Huawei Mate 20 Dual Active SIM has been leaked courtesy of slashleaks.com showcasing the Huawei Mate 20 series capability to have 2 active fully featured SIM cards at the same device. As compared to existing implementations, which only one SIM card can remain active at a time especially during calls as the other SIM card will be set on standby throughout the duration of the call.

Huawei Malaysia recently held a briefing regarding the Kirin 980 chipset featuring dual NPU (Neural Network Processing Unit) and a 1.4Gbps LTE Cat 21 modem over a more energy efficient 7nm fabrication process. Set to appear first in the Huawei Mate 20 series in London on 16 October 2018, key highlights of the chipset includes 75% improvement in single core performance and a faster yet 178% more energy efficient Mali-G76 GPU for an overall energy efficiency increase of 58%.

Huawei Mate 20 series will not feature the 3.5mm audio jack + 3 camera setup confirmed on the device
Sep 18, 2018Based on the casing images of the Huawei Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro courtesy of slashleaks.com, it appears that the Huawei Mate 20 series will not be featuring the 3.5mm audio jack. Similar to all the previous reports we’ve covered, the Huawei Mate 20 series will feature a square cutout which will house the triple rear camera setup. Not only that, based on reports the Huawei Mate 20 will feature a circular fingerprint scanner while the Mate 20 Pro will have an in-display fingerprint scanner.

Upcoming Huawei Mate 20 Pro and Mate 20 will come equipped with the new and improved HiSilicon Kirin 980 chipset which features Dual-NPU which allows for greater AI processing capabilities. In terms of camera improvements with the chipset, the HiSilicon Kirin 980 is capable of processing up to 4500 images for per second, 120% faster than industry average. But that’s not all as it supports multi-person motion prediction and object detection tracking in real time.

Recently FCC has listed Huawei’s implementation of wireless charging technology which features up to 15W wireless charging while the wired charging option is capable of charging up to 10V/4A which is nearly double the charging rate of current Huawei SuperCharge technology.

Images of the Huawei Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro as well as the glass panel for the devices has been leaked showcasing a curved screen panel for the Mate 20 Pro and a Waterdrop notch for the Huawei Mate 20. The notch on the Huawei Mate 20 is larger due to the fact that it houses several sensors such as the 3D face scanner, front facing selfie camera, proximity sensor and speaker grill as far as we know.

The IFA 2018 event has passed and Huawei already informed everyone that the upcoming Mate 20 series will be introduced in London on 16 October 2018. While the Mate 20 series was not teased much from the event, someone was seen walking around with the actual "unit" of what it appears to be a Mate 20!

Huawei officially launched their latest Kirin 980 chipset today at IFA 2018 as the world’s first 7nm chipset. Other world’s firsts include the first to feature a MALI-G76 graphics processing unit, CAT 21 5G Modem for up to 1.4Gbps downloads, a dual NPU (neural network processing unit), Cortex-A76 processors and more. The Huawei Mate 20 is set to be the first device to feature it due on 16 October 2018 in London.

Just a few hours ago, XDA-Developers managed to get some Huawei Mate 20 firmware files and dug up some tech-specs.
